June Newsletter

Hello June!

Let the summer begin!

Fresh and alive and gay and young,
June is a love song, sweetly song
— Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, “June is Bustin' Out All Over”

Oh, June. The gardens are stuffed full with buds and blooms, bees and butterflies alike. The days are staying warmer and just opening the front door or a few windows can let in all the sweet scents of summer flowers. We hope everyone is enjoying the gardens as much as we are right now.

With annuals planted, we are back into our typical garden care routine including deadheading, weeding, fertilizing annuals and spot watering where needed. We will also be taking this time to do some adjustments in the garden, splitting unruly perennials and searching for any blank spaces to fill in. Many gardens have plenty of plants to choose from for this task, but other times we may recommend new plants. This would be site specific and is always to optimize plant health and performance. As you’re taking your morning walks, we hope you notice the adjustments that we are making along the way.

You may have also noticed through the years that your gardens are far from stagnant. Trees may fall or loose branches over winter and create more sun in woodland gardens. Alternatively, trees could be filling out and getting tall over what you once considered a sunny spot. These observations are how we make our garden adjustments, looking to see how plants preform now and how they will continue to perform in the future. If you have any garden spaces that come to mind, let us know and we will do our best to increase performance.

This month usually comes along with certain pests and diseases was well. We’ve got our eye out for powdery mildews, unwanted insects and anything else we can identify. For these pests, we come equip with all-organic solutions, but if that doesn’t do the trick we have recommendations for companies who can come in and help with the problem.

We hope you’re enjoying all the sights and scents this month, and please let us know if there are any areas of your garden that you would like to address!
